It became known that AI from Facebook engineers learned to deceive and bargain. The results of the new bot system project were published on the Internet.
So, the developers of a new program that is capable of deceiving and bargaining used about 6 thousand real dialogues of people negotiating during the AI training. All of this data was collected using the Amazon Mechanical Turk online platform.
Having analyzed all the conversations, the AI was able to learn not only how to successfully negotiate, but also how to deceive. Moreover, the bot is able to simulate interest in a subject that the interlocutor actually does not need. When artificial intelligence wins preferences during negotiations, it automatically returns attention to their object.
The developers believe that the AI did not learn to lie by analyzing people’s conversations; in their opinion, most likely the bot stumbled upon the tactic quite by accident, in the process of self-learning.
The new algorithm is currently not yet popular enough and requires funding. And to make work with this mechanism move faster, the Facebook laboratory has opened the source code, and all the results of the work done.
